We at Art Saves Lives International are relaunching and want to introduce ourselves to our community in Portsmouth and Southsea.
So we thought what could we do to say hi to you all and let you know what we are all about…
Then we thought SWAP SHOP!!
A great chance FOR US ALL to get involved and do something which helps our environment as well as a fun way to show you what ASLI can offer Portsmouth.
ASLI’s Lisa Reeve and Becky Saunders decided to go down to Castle Road in Southsea, Portsmouth to introduce our organisation to the local businesses and tell them all about our exciting event. This is also where the lovely venue for our SWAP SHOP is, a quirky home from home pub called The Barley Mow. Who are allowing us the FREE use of their function room and garden for the event to support us as a local nonprofit.
We also met the local owners and employees at several great places on Castle Road who have agreed to support us and advertise our event in their windows or websites. So we would like to highlight these supportive businesses and say thank you.
Southsea’s Pi & Vinyl Record Cafe – “The idea of Pie & Vinyl is simple, combining our love and passion for music with one of England’s favourite old fashioned comfort foods in a stylish cosy location in Castle road, Southsea.”
ArtyPotz – “Artypotz is your local paint your own pottery studio based in Castle Road, Southsea. If you fancy being a bit creative, this is the perfect place for you to visit. “
Hillfield Trading (Antiques & Vintage) – ” A small friendly company in Portsmouth which has a huge passion for Retro & Vintage items. We have slowly grown in size and influence over the years and become a little bit of a local powerhouse for producing quality and alternative Shabby Chic, Painted, Industrial and Up Cycled furniture and household items.”
Brocante of Southsea (Antiques & Vintage) – ” We travel to France on a weekly basis, finding antiques and collectables. We have extensive links with interior designers and source items all over France”
Delaneys Café – “Delaneys is a Family run Deli / Sandwich shop in the heart of Southsea Portsmouth.”
This kind of community spirit is something ASLI feel very strongly about and the idea of GIVING BACK and PAYING IT FORWARD is how we like to operate. In a community we live by associating with one another. The feeling of association is a common feeling which helps in establishing peace and harmony.
As well as the SWAP SHOP we will have a ASLI stand packed full with info, freebies and sign up lists for volunteers, artists, local businesses, sponsors, organisations and for anyone who wants to get involved. For local visual artists, performers, crafters, writers, poets and all those creative there will be our Cultural Arts Director Charlotte Farhan at the stand to answer any questions and see if we can get you to join ASLI.
If this sounds like your idea of a fun Saturday please come and support us.
To partake in the swap shop you must bring a bag of unwanted items which upon arrival will be emptied and sorted for you. Then you are free to fill your empty bag with items from the swap shop. EASY! If you do not have any items to bring but have a bag begging to be filled please turn up with your bag and a donation and you can still take part.
